Low job offer?

It is a finance job, can pass as entry level though I was in finance 5 yrs ago for 1 yr before branching out to do my own thing, then went back to grad school (not MBA). I got an offer from a big MNC bank... but I was a little disappointed.

It's S$40,000/year (S$3333/month) + year end bonus + med/dental + 1 economy airfare (I'm married) + 1 month signing bonus + 1 month accomodations (presumably until I find my own place... and it looks like I qualify for HDB).

I did my research and found that a local college grad gets S$3333/month, locals with some finance experience get S$5000-6000/month. Did I get offered the local package... airfare & accomodations seem quite measly to qualify as local plus... I promise I wasn't dreaming of the full expat package. This job at home is US$50-55k/year.

Any advice, opinions, words of wisdom would be appreciated.

... why you would even be considering dragging yourself and your spouse half-way around the world to take a %50 pay cut!

There are all sorts of facts and figures one could go into, but if the details are as you have laid out, then two words can describe the offer

It sucks !!!

Don't even entertain the idea.

It seems that you have 1 year of banking-related experience.  A local grad with with that kind of experience will get S$1,800/month.  What role are you getting?

But don't foget it depends on where you live.

In Australia I was getting taxed close to half my salary. Here I get paid 10k less, but taxed only around 4 percent.

So really, the way I look at it, I make more than I would in Australia even though my wage dropped!
