I am currently based in Melbourne and i am wanting to move to Singapore as soon as I find a position in IT sales or support.  I am suitably qualified however being based in Melbourne is making the search all the more difficult.  Would it be worth going to Singapore for a few weeks to search there or would it be more benefical to wait until i can secure an interview.  I would appreciate any advice here - I am really keen to be up there with my fiancee

I too am in Melbourne and are moving to S'pore early January.  Have you thought about going through the likes of Morgan & Banks, Anderson Contracting etc.  Both companies actively recruit IT staff for Singapore.  If your finacee is up there, have you thought about trying for a dependent visa - they are easy to get if your married, im not too sure on engaged.

From memory, the nerd section in The Australian on Tuesdays has heaps of job adverts for both local and overseas postings - including Singapore. Worth a try.

Definitely go through a headhunter to find something here. As suggested by Little Kiwi, try Morgan & Banks, but also Micheal Page and Robert Walters (a UK headhunter). They all have offices in Singapore. IT skills are always needed over here, but you have to differentiate yourself from the locals who have the same skills... people management skills are very much lacking in the locals. Use it to your advantage.
