Most people on this board appear relatively welll off - not loaded but not skint (I am myself in this category).

We pay new hires about the same in SGD as we pay them in GBP at home although this changes rapidly.  You can live but you will be poor compared to most expats.  You most certainly can live though.  If you are new out of Uni, ok with a flat share and want a good experience then make the most of it.  If you are in your 30s and building a career then forget it.

The issue is that for junior roles there is a bigger discount than for more senior roles.

Also, because the SGD has been fairly static against the USD whilst GBP has appreciated the discount is only getting larger.

To the OP this seems cheap.  I would have suggested 50%.

We pay our new graduates (best universities) in technology closer to SGD35-40k from day 1.

I think it's a good salary myself. My maid has a Bachelor of Arts degree from a reputable university in the Philippines and can spell better than most expats and I pay her $350 a month.

Buddy, I think you're on a good wicket and should grab that offer with both hands.
