Hi,

My partner and I are thinking to move to Singapore, I am studying BSc in Computer Studies in the U.K. My study will be finishing in 2004, but my partner is planning to start studying Business degree this year and will be finish in 2006. We are planning to move after his study.

Just need some information is it better for me to apply some jobs start away after my study or better leave it a year before we decide the date of the moving? I am on my placement year at the moment (so after my study I already have 1 year work experience). Hopefully another one or two more years work experience.

I suspect this is too early to plan. But if I don’t start as early as I can, it will be harder. Does anyone have any advice for me? Sorry to be so eager in this early stage.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

I think it is too early by a long way.

Even if you said you were coming next week, it would be difficult to advise you, given the current job market in Singapore.

I imagine that by 2006, things will be very different.

My advice now would be to build a network of contacts with companies at home, who you could join and then transfer out here later. Usually you will get a better deal if your company transfers you than if you join locally.
