I was offered an assistant professorship at NTU. Salary less than 90K. I was told I shld prove myself in order to get a six digit salary. Whereas in US, these days the starting salary for an assisstant prof (with a Phd) is 130k. And NTU compares itself to top US universities but when it  comes to salary, nah!!

A school:

Your NTU Salary is less than 90K. Is it in SGD or USD? Are you in teaching track or research track. Which field are you in? If you are in the research track, it's low. I heard someone in NTU got 180K for an assistant professor.

It's normal for fresh PhD (whether S'porean or not) to be offered < S$90K per annum.

Most Faculty members do both Teaching and Research

It's not nonsense as I am talking from first hand experience. Know some fresh PhD grads who are offered more at the same place. And I am not a fresh PhD grad either!!!

A School,

90K is low even for an assistant professor in business school

Is 90K a base salary? A humanity faculty can nearly earn 90K (include everything).

A School is not only right but understating things. Starting salary at a US Biz-School for an Asst Prof is anywhere from US$100K-US$150K. While Singaporean schools pay well relative to SE Asia, they are a good 20-30% behind the globally market. For tenured profs, even more so, as no local uni offers a decent pension, where as in the US one can retired with 80%+ of last salary for REST OF HIS/HER LIFE.

I want to know how they give out individual bonus? Like in US, it is based on the number of papers and the quality of papers? I heard here it is decided by Dean. Who knows what he thinks.

How does anyone get a phd in accounting and if they do how does it compare to aca or fca?

End of the day it is statute driven, what would you write a research paper about anyway (other than statutes being dumb).

Locals are paid higher salary though!!

Are you certain about that?
Foreigners are given extra perks like on-campus housing and spouse/child allowance, I believe?
