Hi,

I am currently living in the UK and looking to relocate to Singapore, and find an expat job in Sales or Marketing.

I currently work for a major sports company in advertisement sales and have marketing experience in this role.

Please can anyone give me information, tips..... anything you think will be helpfull!!!  On where to start looking for jobs.

Suggest you think twice about trying to find a job here-especially if you are looking for an expat package. For every one expat family moving in, 10 expat families move out of Singapore. Property prices are low, fewer people to rent property and more and more people finding themselves in serious financial difficulty.
Economy here is not good -lots of redundencies, both for Singaporeans and Expats. With SARS the economy is struggling, fewer tourists and fewer folks travelling mean fewer jobs in hotels/airlines etc. All companies are cutting back on costs and expensive expat package folks are obvious ones to cut.
Cannot comment on your particular line of work but it seems the only business's doing well are those making medical face masks and thermometers!
You might want to reschedule a planned move here.  But please come here on holiday to check out the place, book into  hotel, spend lots of money in restaurants/shops and cabs and pump some desperatley needed cash into the economy.

Please, give Singapore a break, although what was said is fairly true, with comments like that Singapore will never pull it self out of the mess it finds its self in. We need to be encouraging people to come over here to live and work, to help the economy. Yes expat packages are a lot different nowadays, but if you are young and want to gain experience from overseas work, then why not Singapore? And lets face it what has the UK to offer today? Unless you are a refugee.
So all I can say Powers, go for it.

The main sporting events I see on TV here are Golf & Soccer (UK Premier League, European Championships, and local S league).

Once a year companies here get bombarded to entertain their corporate clients at the Malaysian F1 GP. I guess there's more, but I've not really noticed it.

Do you put adverts on sports grounds so they will be picked up by TV coverage or do you advertise sporting events?

Anyway I guess you would be approaching Event promoters, TV stations or potential sponsors on behalf of sports clubs or venues?

Thanks for your reply.

I work on the match day programmes for the major events, such as F1, Golf, Tennis, Football and Rugby.  Many other smaller publications but the major ones are those that count!

Do you know of any of companies that organise the main sports events in Singapore, including any companies that organise the hospitality for the companies that entertain their clients.... as that is also something that I get involved in sometimes.... even names of the companies that entertain as that would be a really good starting point for me.

(Austin?) Power-ssss

as you probably have picked up by now - life's not exactly a 'picnic' in Sunny S'pore right now.....

having said that - good luck to you - as long as your will is as ambitious & devoted as your belief - you shall get a job (albeit with whatever terms are associated with it).

do not confuse S'pore & "Expat" too much thesedays

There a few event companies listed here:-
http://www.calendarone.com/client.htm

Some international ones here (even though it is Yahoo Singapore):-
http://sg.dir.yahoo.com/Business_and_Economy/Business_to_Business/Sports/Event_Planning/

Anyway suggest you go into google and search on things like 'sports' 'events' 'organisers' 'Singapore'

Good luck
