Tax wise Dubai better, cost of living wise... about the same, INMHO.  Google the web and check out some of the expat cost of living surveys, they may be able to give you some good quantatative data.  Personally, i'd go to dubai for that money, but not remain in Singapore if they offered me that at renewal time.

One thing to be very wary of in Dubai is that as an employee you have little in the way of rights. Many companies expect you to work 10-11 hours a day 6 days a week. And if you leave the company, even if it is their fault, you cannot get another job without a No Objection Certificate from your previous employer (doesn't apply in Free zones) and a lot of companies will refuse to give them. Also if you leave you company within the 1st year you get an automatic 6 month labour ban from the Government.

Hi reply to southpark... I live in Dubai right now but I'm planning to relocate in singapore.  Honestly, this place used to be a haven for everybody.  As a young bachelor you would probably enjoy the first few months but once you get hit by the new laws that come out everyday you would feel how hard it is to live here.  If you look at sevendays newspaper you'll be able to see the problems we are facing here.
