This is a tough one but thought I'd ask:

If one is a PR but gets posted to another country in SE Asia - Thailand or Hong Kong by chance - at a future date can one still renew PR status and also apply for Singapore Citizenship even though not resident?

(I'm a westerner considering Singapore as a 'home base' in Asia.)

If your PR was granted under the Professional/Technical category, you might have a problem. ICA will want to see proof of ongoing income in Singapore substantiated either by income tax returns or record of CPF contributions. If you got your PR under the Spouse category, there will be no problem so long as your SO remains a Singaporean citizen.
