I'm on the verge of accepting an offer from a Singapore TV Broadcaster before I discovered this board. Now I need help!
Could I find an appartment for S$800-S$1000? Would it be in a reasonably nice area? Would I have the basic appliances as we do here in North America ie. stove/oven, fridge, air-con, dishwasher?
The salary package being offered doesn't seem that much to me at S$3300/month.(and that includes housing allowance) What kind of lifestyle could I have with that money?
I have been accustomed to living the luxury life, but the job is a good career move for me.
Need some advice here...
Oh by the way, where do I start looking for accomodations?

If you are living on your own it would be Ok. You can pick up a small 1 bed flat for $1000.
Utility bills are cheap in Sing and for one person shouldn't be a problem at all. Leaving you around $2000 for eating, travel and social life.
However if you are on your own you may be better off sharing a place. There are lots of rooms for rent. If you find some good housemates it may help you settle in a lot better to a new country.

Thanks...
So you mean I can actually rent my own flat for $1000?
What do you mean by a room...is it like a bed room in an appartment and shared kitchen, living room areas?

Yes you can get a small flat for that amount, however it won't be right in the centre.
Although in an inland this small that isn't a problem.
Yes I do mean a private bedroom with shared living and kitchen etc, although often with private bathroom.
Don't let some of the stories on here put you off. I am here on a local salary and live just fine.
Are you coming to Sing to check it out before you accept? I would advise it. That way you know for sure the type of place you can get.

$3,300 in Singapore is not a lot of
money. If you are an established professional
in US, it is a waste of time coming here.
If you are coming to experience the culture,
it is a acceptable deal. After flights,
food, transport, tax, accomodation, you may
just have about 1,000 USD left a month
for saving.

Hey thanks guys...
Well I'm going there on Semi-local terms. My relocation is paid for, as well as my air fare and hotel stay for 2 weeks. My salary is average I guess.
I've been to Singapore once and aside from the heat its OK.
I'm moving there because I think the position I was offered would be a great career move...not much cash but I'll be ok for a year or two without PRADA and LOUISE Vuitton in exchange for a better appartment.
