Yes, if you show people that you can't string a sentence together using proper english.

Geez, your 40 and write like you are a 15 year with a handphone.

TerryT, does have a point:

Is it really difficult 2 go back 2 work if u r 40 plus?

Is it really difficult to go back to work if you are over 40?

If this shows the effort you are willing to make, simply to write a short sentence, then  the answer is yes.

How long have you been out of work, what did you do before you stopped . . .

Is it difficult after 20 years of not working as a secretary?  Is it difficult after 1 year not working as a check-out chick?

Make an effort, even in the little things, and it will be easier.

Hi 40 plus,

it would be a little difficult, it would be easy also.

start networking, you may find people who want mature people only.

Yes, the market is very bad now, but keep on trying and be positive, who knows you will find one.

Good luck

Terry T should learn English before correcting others'. It's you're. As in you are 40, not your, as in is that your mobile phone?
Also, it is not a handphone. It is a mobile telephone/phone or a cellular phone. Handphone is used in Singapore quite frequently, but it is incorrect and poor English.
