working Gap Year

Hello everyone.
I'm looking to work in Singapore during my Gap Year as an English teacher.
Will schools employ a "young" teacher with a TEFL certificate? Is there much demand for English tuition (schools/private)? Which Asian language would you recommend I learn well before I arrived?
Any help would be gratefully received.
Thank you
Patchouli
