Be very careful with agents offering you the world - there are so many rip off agents in all countries of the world taking advantage of those who wish to work and live overseas.
As for LPR - top 1% in your field?
"The Landed Permanent Resident (LPR) scheme allows you to apply for Singapore permanent residence while you are still working and living overseas. What's the catch? The LPR Scheme is open only to those individuals who have top notch education or professional background. As a rule of thumb, you must be in the top 1% of your competitive landscape on a global basis in order to qualify for Landed Permanent Resident scheme."

After reading the posts - I noticed that most of the people who applied and were rejected were notified within 3-4 months.
I've been waiting 6+ months - no notice yet except for 'cut-paste' email answers.
Anyone rejected after waiting more than 6 months?

Hi Everyone,
i want to know how ICA office decide to give PR status. i apply PR first time on 2008 when I holding S-pass about 7months. Got reject letter and request to wait 9months. After few months I marriage with my wife on middle of 2009 and I change my new job and after 6months i apply again but they still give me reject . that time I got my salary is 2.8k When I go and check at counter they give me the reason I holding s-pass. This year I got EP-P2 status and my salary also up to 3.5k and my wife also got job LOC status from MOM . I apply again on last month with 6months latest pay-slip and also our IRAS income tax pay slip. But The officer Still reject my application with no reason. When I go and check at counter this time they saw they cannot say nothing about the rejection reason. For me I want to knwo the reason for APPEAL application. Because now my wife have pregnant recent months , i want to be stable in singapore for our future. Thanks MIN

That's interesting, I can't help but wonder if the reason why ICA keeps telling people to apply "after 2 years" is because elections are due in 2012 and "after 2 years" = after elections?! LOL Anyway, thanks to you and pp Barbapappa, I've decided how I want to cast my vote in 2012. On another major Singapore Expat forum, one moderator had a dinner with a Parliament official and after some wines he said that parliament decided during the summer of 2009 that the influx of foreign talent will be freezed for at least 2 years (which means that an application is only approved if another pr surrenders or leaves the country). right now, about 90% of the applications is put 'on hold' or rejected. There are many people waiting for 11+ months. Their application is processed but the outcome is not sent out.
Coming from an a-class country works against you, thanks to those greedy Ivy leagues who toke benefit of the PR and left after some years to earn 10 dollars more. A friend from Myanmar, diploma holder, was approved for PR in january, he holds an s-pass, income S$1800. I hold 2 masters from a top-50 university, income S$8000 and got rejected. You do the math
Good luck to everyone!

Yup, and that is why I'll be voting against the current government to make sure all Indians, PRCs, Myanmese and Pinoys here stop coming to screw us up all over the place! Thanks for reminding me. the writing's on the wall, just wait for the elections to be over and apply again, 90% of the people described in this thread will have their PR approved faster than you can say "screw the citizens"

Yes it's accurate. I'd like to know when the elections are? I asked 2 Singaporeans and neither of them even knew.

It was in the local papers 6 months ago. The government is responding to the locals who were unhappy with too many foreigners being granted PRs - fear of losing jobs to lower paid Asians, etc. Population is nearly 5 million on this tiny island so overcrowding is another factor.
Like other countries, immigration rules change from year to year so you will need to be patient and hopeful, that things rule in your favour.
