You may want to reconsider Bayshore and Bayshore Park. A 3BHK is now in the range of 2.4 to 3K.

A cheaper condo would possibly be Melville Park in Simei. You may wish to consider these areas - Simei , Changi , Tampines

have seen recently (last 6 weeks) 2 bedrooms go for 1.4-1.6k at bayshore park, 1.5-1.8k at the Bayshore.

3 Bedrooms between 1.7 and 2.2 at Bayshore park and 2.0 and 2.2 at the bayshore.

Both are nice, bayshore park older and bigger the bayshore newer and better facilties.

Thanks again. How long is the commute to CBD probably near Clark Quay? Any direct buses or MRT from Bayshore or Bayshore Park? I saw some pics of pretty reasonable condos near / in Holland Village such as the Evian. Would Holland V be closer to CBD?

Hi,
I live near the GIIS which my older son attends. Bayshore Park should fit your budget. Are you already living in S'pore or moving here soon? CBD is not too far. DO send me your email ID . I would love to help with any info you might need. Or your tel num if you live in S'pore.

Hi, thanks for replying. I'm not in SG yet but should be there in a couple of months if all goes well. You could send me a mail at missingyears7@yahoo.com
I had a few things to ask about schools as well. Like how to you rate GIIS as compared to DPS? Are you happy with the way the your son's progressing there?

Thanks

Hope you have success but it is getting more and more expensive on the East Coast as property prices increase, so get in early.

One word of advice re 'Enrichment classes" mentioned above.... sadly, we are all finding out how rude Indians from India can be when we see them jumping queues, never saying thank you, a feeling of self importance, abnoxious, barging in front of people without thinking, unaware of people around them, spitting, dropping litter, staring, the list goes on. May not be their fault as they come from a crowded country.  Can I suggest you enrol your kids in some classes teaching manners... for enrichment? Please take this positively.

Good luck

Don't think your above comment was called for at all.  U don't know these people how can u say to them that they should teach their kids manners.  I have lived in various countries and i don't think anyone can make such a general statement about any country or people in the world.

To the above poster: You just interrupted a thread with your remarks pretending to offer help. That's good manners indeed. Thanks but I don't need your advice. And if you'd excuse me, I have to go and tell my kids a thing or two, like how bad generalising people is, and how being loud and cutting lines isn't as shameful an act as looking down on the person in front of you.

Actually, "Non-Indian" if the OP's family comes here and exhibits all the behaviour you just listed here, I think they will fit in just fine. I think your post has displayed the total lack of manners that are plentiful all over this island.

Sorry, OP. Nothing to add, but that person really annoyed me.

tired ang moh: I couldn't agree with you more. Some people have all the time in the world to think about what others do, rather than looking within or spend that time with doing something constructive. Worse still, they end up leaving a bad taste in your mouth.

That aside, let me get back to my queries. Has anyone recently viewed (after the increase in prices) a decent looking apartment at least 1200sqft for or less than 2K in Bayshore Park? I'm looking for 2+1 or 3 room pad. How long does it take to get to the CBD from there on bus versus the MRT?

Thanks again. Cheers.

Don't forget about taxes. I've been spending like a drunken sailor lately and just got hit with a 10,000$ tax bill. I don't know how they deduct taxes in India, but in Singapore they won't tax any of your salary untill the end of the year.

Luckily I'm single, in my 20's and earn more than you, so I should be able to manage. Just remember to save for taxes when planning your budget !

I would hazard a guess that you are no better based on your line "Actually, "Non-Indian" if the OP's family comes here and exhibits all the behaviour you just listed here, I think they will fit in just fine."
