Got a question, I am unmarried but have a girlfriend. We would like to live together before getting married. I am in Singapore on a P1 employment pass.

Every time when my GF enters singapore she only gets a 2 weeks permit to stay. We are tired going in and out Singapore every two weeks.

I cannot apply for a Long-term Social Visit Pass (LTSVP) as only common law wife's are eligible. I would need a letter of the high commission stating this but we didn't lived together before.

Every time we get questioned at immigration and when I say she wants to stay with me out of love that is not reason enough (I could nearly pull the officer over his counter when he told me that)

Has anyone gone thru the same. What can I do to keep my GF longer in Singapore?Huh?

Thanks from both of us!

If she could have a job offer in writing it would simplify things greatly.   Good Luck.

I take mine to the immigration office at Lavendar. They will usually extend by two weeks. When that doesn't work we take a taxi to JB and come back (cheaper than flying in and out).

Immigration officers at the Singapore entry points are variable. Some are nice and friendly and helpful, some are not. Some give 30 days staight off, some 14 days and some even less.

Getting shirty with them certainly will not help your cause.

I know of expats that had the same problem. The GF's always received  2weeks because they came from another Asian country.

She can setup a company and should be able to stay on longterm visas.

I know a few that have done it.
