Hi There,

I am a New Zealander from Auckland looking at moving with my wife and 4 year old daughter to Singapore.

I started off 10 years ago in Singapore as an Admin Assistant for a year (worked in Woodlands on a Work Permit) and then moved on to Dubai for six years, moving up the corporate ladder to become a Sales Manager. I moved to NZ five years ago and am currently employed as a Sales Manager / Business Developer. During this period I also completed my MBA with a major in Marketing. I also travelled all over the world and can relate to people of different cultures (I have an ethnic Indian background and can speak Hindi as well, although English is my first language). My work experience has given me the gift of the gab and I can sell a fridge to the Eskimo or Oil to the Arabs (actually, been there done that).

Now I know this sounds like a cover letter for a CV, but I was wondering if anyone is able to answer me the following questions :

1. Will I be able to find employment in Siingapore? What is the market for expats like me?
2. What sort of salary bracket should we be looking at?
3. How much should I budget for housing?
4. How much should I budget for schooling (australian / nz international for a 4 year old)?
5. How much for a decent car? Or should this be included in my package?
6. What employment agencies offer job search for people living outside Singapore?

Now I know some of you might ask why I am asking these questions when I lived here b4? Well, that was about 11 years ago, and I was only a fresh Uni graduate then. I dunno what the going rate is now.

Any advice would be great.

Cheers
Ken

Opps - was gonna post a reply here ....

Depends on what area of law you are practising in ... capital markets, banking and finance are hot hot hot ... as are construction and property.

Not sure what the litigation scene is like though.

For a big firm, you can expect about $4k.
