hi- Im moving over in September.
I have been doing a fair bit of research on Esl schools. I'd like to know which ones have the best reputations. I've found that ATT and Inlingua are not so popular(with split shifts and a bit dodgy on the contracts) and that The British Council is considered no1.
I don't have a teaching degree, but have a TEFL Cert. Is September an okay time to arrive for work? Will the employer sort out a work visa for part time work or is it only for fulltime? thanks for helping....

Hi Emma

I have worked in Singapore as an EFL teacher - if you don't have a PGCE or TEFL certificate then it's hard to work at the British Council.  Please don't even considering ATT it is a nightmare - I worked there for 1 year and it was terrible - I think they only have about 2 teaching staff there now.  Try Geos or Berlitz on Orchard Road - classes are around 40 mins long and you can pick and choose your schedule.  Part-time is good and then you can advertise for private students and can charge around $50 per hour.  Good luck!

Hello, I am also a CELTA holder and looking for a teaching post in Sing, useful to know which schools to avoid so thanks for the info! I did want to ask a question regarding fees-salaries, what are the going rates and how much does one need in Sing to survive?
thanks again

Yes - anywhere is good - I found Cold Storage notice *** got the most results - it's free to advertise too.
