I'd have thought this would be specified in your contract before you even signed up.  Speak to your HR department asap, check your contract.

Give me the name, tel# and email of your supervisor.  I will get in touch and find out for you.  Oh, and I will tell him you are a useless idiot for not being able to answer such a basic question yourself.

Performance bonus in the govt service is given in July of each year. It ranges from 1-3 months of salary.

In Dec. you will get the 13th month bonus plus whatever the govt.decides to give, sometimes 1/2 mth to 3/4 mth or good yr, i mth.

This morning, I reread my offer package and found that there is a performance bonus. Now it's toward the end of the year. I am curious about it. That's why I come here and try to get any information. My contract really doesn't say anything . Just tell me it will be based on my performance.

Bonus, for goodness sake!  No-one on this board can tell you if you'll get a performance bonus, a 13 month bonus, or any sort of bonus.  We can't see your contract - take it to your HR department and ask them to clarify.  And if you are as dozy in your working life as you are on this board, well, I pity your poor students.

Leave to poor guy alone.

What he/she is trying to find out more before seeing the HR people. With info. gathered, can ask questions ..if not, could be browbeaten by the HR.

HR people also don't know it. In my contract it doesn't really tell me anything.  I often feel so bad that I could't get what I wanted to know.  This is not the first time. Anyway, thanks for your answer.

Just give another example. I once asked them the time for the annual medical examniation provided by the school. They told me they don't know now. So I paid by myself for the annual medical examniation in full. In a week, I got the email telling me I can schedule the time.

That's why I often feel so bad that I can't get what I want to know. Maybe this is common in singapore.

= no more 13th month.

Go see the Central Admin HR if your Dept HR Officer doesn't know or just ask the boss (head of Dept) about when they are giving out the bonus.

I'm guessing if you work for a Singapore uni then you are a civil servant.  Here is the information for Civil servant bonuses.  If you're not classified  as a cs, but work for government then it will be  the same or similar.

ANNUAL SALARY COMPONENTS
Apart from the 12 months' salary paid in a year, the Civil Service annual pay package also comprises the following components:

Performance Bonus (PB)
This is a variable component paid in March every year, and it depends on the performance grading of the individual officer. The PB scheme allows us to directly link pay with individual performance on the job. This gives our salary structure added flexibility and provides management a finer tool to reward deserving officers.

Non-Pensionable Annual Allowance (NPAA),
1 month's pay. This is similar to the Annual Wage Supplement or 13th month pay in the private sector, and is paid in December every year.

Annual Variable Component (AVC)
Up to 2 month's pay. The AVC is paid in 2 instalments - in July and December.

Special Bonus (SB)
This is a one-off payment that is made during years of exceptionally good economic performance.
