I am a married man with 2 young children who is considering a position in Hamburg, but would like to get peoples views who have had experince there.

Any information on it as a possible place to relocate too would be appreciated.

Hello.
Where do you come from?
I have to tell you that I have been to Hamburg lots of times and just loved it. It is one of the biggest harbour-cities in the world and therefore very open and intercultural.
Hamburg is the second biggest city in Germany and has a lot to offer for everyone. Lots of opportunities for kids, a lot of greenery, sports possibilities, theatres, big night-life and, and, and.
You might find that Hamburg is quite expensive compared to other german cities and compared to singapore.
However. you are close to the east-coast with lots if beaches and sailing tradition.
Only in the summer though. Of course you will experience a harsh winter and quite a bit of rain from time to time.
