Does anybody know if there is a limit on the amount of money you can earn if you are on an employment pass. I know there is a minimum, but is there a maximum?

Thanks in advance.

Rob - I agree with the EP info. but disagree with DP unless you are referring to a special case where there is no letter of consent.  My wife worked with DP and letter of consent at about SGD 9,000 per month and there were no worries.

Don't know offhand but there's likely no maximum. If there is, they will ask you to apply for an EP on your own which you would most likely get anyways.

$2500 is more like the minimum.

I'm in the same situation. Arriving in next couple months in Singapore, and my wife will apply for a DP.

Just to recap:
- There's no limit on salary for the dependant spouse? (Other people on this forum indicated that spouses income has a maximum under a DP...)

Some questions:

1. What is a letter of consent, and how does it fit into the DP application?

2. How long does a EP application take. Let's assume I get a job offer tomorrow. I live in the U.S. now. What are my next steps, and how long is the process?

3. How long is the DP process?

4. Can we apply for a DP before we arrive in Singapore?

I appreciate any feedback from those who have gone through the process.

Thanks in advance...

thanks everyone for the info.

The EP or DP take about 2 - 3 weeks. A letter of consent is a form that you fill out after receiving your DP so you can work.

One thing to keep in mind though is that if your wife can get her own EP then it is much better. The reason for this is that if for some reason you decide to change jobs or something like that, then her DP also becomes invalid.

Also, if later on she decided to apply for a EP, she has to cancel her DP first (even though she is employed), resign from her job, not work for the 2 weeks it takes for them to give her an answer, not knowing if her EP application will be approved. If it doesn't then she has to reapply for a DP.

Really stupid!

Hope this helps.
