I wonder if there is anyone out there who is willing to share his/her working experience for Deutsche Bank Singapore, especially in its HR group?  Is the working environment healthy?  Thank you!

I have heard lots of negative stories about the HR dep't at Deutsche Bank.  The new Regional Head of HR is an English lady who is currently away on maternity leave.  She has surrounded herself with lots of expat ladies from Australia and the UK.  Some of my friends work in the HR department over there and are extremely unhappy.  Most of the local staff are looking for jobs.  The bank is in a bit of a mess right now.  Lots of HR people are leaving cos they don't like the Regional Head of HR who looks after Ops and IT.  Product controlling is losing a lot of their staff to other banks.  Operations and middle office staff are also unhappy because the guy who manages that area is a bit of an autocrat with a foul temper.

The HR market is like musical chairs right now.  HR people from StanChart, Citi, Deutsche, HSBC are all moving around in circles and taking each other's jobs.

Anything else you would like to know about the company?

To HR Person -

Thank you very much for your input.  I appreciate it very much.

Would you happen to know the guy's name who manages the operations and middle office area?  If full name is not appropriate, please just tell me his initial.  I have actually gotten the offer from the small team within the HR group, a small team who manages the Bank's expatriates.  Any suggestion will be highly appreciated as it will definately help me make the decision to accept or not.

Thank you once again in advance.  Have a nice weekend!

To the original poster,

The Regional Head of Operations and middle office is a guy called Peter C.  He used to work for BT but then joined Deutsche when the 2 banks merged.  He has had about 6 HR Managers in the last 4 years.  No one ever lasts because they can't stand working with him.  He thinks HR's crap and basically yells at everyone all the time including his HR Generalist. Two of my friends used to be his HR Manager.  One found it impossible to work with him so left Deutsche and joined a US Bank.  The other person was a lovely Singaporean lady who just couldn't cope with his demands or bad temper.  She has also left the bank.  The other thing that you need to be aware of is that none of these HR people could work with the Regional Head of HR who looks after IT & Ops.  She has a very difficult personality and treats her subordinates pretty badly.  She is an expat from Australia.

The person who heads up middle office is a Kiwi guy called Andrew L.

There are a lot of HR opportunities right now in Singapore. A number of banks are actively recruiting - StanChart, Citibank, DBS & Deutsche are all looking for good HR people.  They are also open to expats.

Don't feel pressured to take the job at Deutsche.  They are really in a mess.

Good luck!

ok this might be OT but I also know people who work for DB (in Europe) but in the IT sector and all they tell me is how much chaos seems to go on at Deutsche.  If you had worked for HR there you would certainly have had your work cut out for you!  I once had an interview with DB but found the guy interviewing me such a tosser that I nearly walked out halfway....ah its good to get that off my chest   I ended up working for a different European bank instead and that worked out far better.
