Hi there,

Does anyone know what it's like to work for P&G in Singapore? I heard they have around 700 employees in Singapore and I am know in the process of applying for a job with them. I am an Aussie and the job position would be Assistant Brand Manager. What could I expect to earn? My guesstimate would be between 50-60k. Enough to survive on in Singapore?
Thanks for your help,
Mike

but I'd guess closer to 50 than 60K   It's enough to live on if you're single.

Singapore dollar. If I have 2500-3000 Sing dollar left over after I have paid rent, is that enough? Anyone else know anything more about P&G in Singapore?

Thanks
Mike

Depending on your lifestyle, that should be more than enough - but booze is more expensive here than Oz.

I know someone who works for for P&G Singapore. As an ABM you'll probably make around S$3,000 per month that's S$42k annually, including 2 months bonus per year. They make exception only if you are from US ivy league or have impressive marketing record.

Brand Management is the fast track career. You started 1 notch higher than normal new hire, but you'll only have 3 years to prove yourself. After 3 years it's up or out.

Dude,

This thread will more than likely find its way to P&G. I hope your real name isn't Mike, or even if it isn't, it won't exactly require rocket science on their part to piece together the Aussie going for the position you mention is trawling internet chat room asking what they pay.

Use some discretion mate. Singapore is TINY. There are no secrets here.

Gee, aren't you guys helpful...I didn't realise that trying to find some information regarding a potential employer is such a serious offence. If this is the attitude in Singapore I might as well forget about it.

Mike2 - why get so agitated? You already got advice about the P&G salary structure for the position you asked and someone even pointed out that it would be fairly easy for P&G to browse this site and connect you and your application to this request - meaning that they would have the upperhand moneywise.

I'm not trying to be a smart arse mate, i am just telling you the truth.
Singapore is a tiny, tiny place.
It's almost a guarenteed certainty that some expat from P+G surfs this site, and a very reasonable chance that it's been mentioned within the company.
You don't want your queries/expectations/thoughts known to them should you sit down to negotiate.
To give you an example, I work in the financial mkts field, and a bit lower down on this board you will see a thread 'What's it like to work for Barclays'.
I know a lot of the folks at Barclays (HR INCLUDED) are following this thread very closely.
Just trying to offer a little bit of advice mate, one Aussie to another.

I wouldn't worry about some of the previous replies. Some of these people seem to be somewhat paranoid with their "big brother is watching" mentality. I am sure that the good people at PG have other things to do than go through message *** looking for what might be said about their company. Even if someone at PG read your topic, so what? What are they going to do, tell you that you have been a bad boy and not offer you the job? Please. If that really were the case I don't think that it would be the kind of company you would want to work for anyway. As an HR person I can only say that doing thorough research (on a potential employer) shows that you are really interested in the job/company and take the application process seriously. Good luck.

I have met quite a few expats working for P&G and they seem happy. Seems like it would be a fun place by judging the people I met so far.

One of my local friends joined P&G after his graduate degree from an Asian university as a Assistant Brand Manager ca 2 years ago.
His pay was between 5k and 6K.

He had worked for the same company before the graduate course (but in another country).

So your guesstimate is more or less correct.
