Hey all,
I'll be graduating in may with a degree in philosophy (yes yes, i know, of all majors), and I was wondering how receptive the singapore job market is to fresh grads.

My gf is from singapore and her work visa will expire in may, so I was hoping to return with her and maybe experience working life in sg for a yr or so. I'm not looking to make tons of money, just enough for me to live fairly comfortably in singapore (i'm pretty low-maintenance).

I was thinking of looking for jobs as an english teacher or tutor in private schools or something, but I don't know where to start. Do most places require on-site job interviews? what are the chances of getting a job before I arrive?

thanks in advance for the help.

Singapore is very receptive to fresh graduates, particularly if they are Singaporean. I hope this is not too terribly shocking.

But if your credentials and/or experience offers something not locally available, then you might be considered foreign talent, maybe.

That's life.

well, I'm American, so i guess it'll be harder for me to find a job huh.

I was looking at the MOE website, and saw that they accept philosophy majors to teach in primary schools. Has anyone taught uder MOE before? Is a teaching credential required?

teaching credentials are definitely necessary for those hoping to teach in any school.

Training for teaching at local scools - at the National Institute of Education (NIE).  All info available on MOE website . . .
