We had to move about 3 months ago from a landed property to a condo.  Sadly our black female cat, has shown signs of not adapting well and have been going on the rampage.  Recently pulling clothing out of baskets, digging up the flower pots and climbing the door gate!  Unfortunately I have gone back to full time work too so it has meant lots of changes for her.

Help, feel she is too couped up and need quickly to find her a new home with access to the outdoors.  Suki is nearly 2 yrs old, neutered and litter trained,  has a quiet docile temperament.

Please email me gsjrob@yahoo.com if you can help!

Your cat is just disoriented by the new surroundings. Keep her in your guest room for a couple of days. She should gradually get used to her new home, area by area. It helps if you assure her of your love regardless of where she stays.

The way you describe your cat's behaviour is not going to attract any cat lovers from adopting her.   If your cat cannot get used to your new home how will she react to a new owner PLUS a new home? The lack of space for your cat is not the issue because cats can live happily in constrained area. Many HDB owners have cats.

I agree, maybe some cat prozac (or rescue remedy) may assist her chill out enough to get used to the new home.   Also check with your vet about some training methods to deter her from doing this.

I have had this with my evil cat, she will get over it - rehoming often breaks an animals heart.

Try these new things out for a bit and then reasses.  that is my suggestion.

HI thanks for your helpful replies.  The funny thing is that she did settled down fine after about 2-3 weeks of the house move - and yes, we did do the slow introduction to the flat room by room.  This new behaviour only started in the past months, seemingly without any reason.

Why I feel she needs more space is that recently she's taken to trying to dart out the front door when we open it .  Any more advice, I am feeling very cruel and guiltywhen I see her dashing around.  It's totally out of character as before she'd be dozing on  the sofa etc.  Cheers
