OP - I too am unable to help, and while this is straying off topic, the ability for people on this board to jump onto a bandwagon is frightening.
I should think if the bandwagon was going past at warp speed 10 it would still be hijacked.
Perhaps the reason is complimentary. I asked a friend of mine who is a senior person in a chain of supermarkets why Japanese people paid so much for certain fruits which while they looked impressive, were just fruit. He said they did it to support their country's economy, rather than because it made them feel at home!
Maybe the OP thought a Japanese couple may like to adopt a cat that had been looked after by countrymen to keep the cat happy,considering the fact that maybe it only speaks Japanese!
