Try Doggiesite.com there are always JR's looking for new homes but not puppies, usually young dogs about a year old.

This is because they are very very very very active and excitable dogs.  JR's and dashounds are very different dogs, both are hunting dogs but bred for different types of hunting.

If you want to own a JR you must be prepared to cope with a dog that requires ALOT of exercise - I am talking an hour a night walking or else your life will be busy coping with a hyper dog.  If you and your wife are couch potatoes, then this dog is not for you. If you are outdoorsy types willing to put substantial time into a dog, then a JR could work for you.

On the up side, they are very loving and loyal, great dogs to have.  But dont get one until you have read up on them substantially.

Because most people here think they are cute and buy them, and then realise they cannot cope with them after purchase, JR's are one of the most abandoned dogs in Singapore.   They usually part with the dogs when they dogs are still young which is a pity because once you are past the year old barrier, a dog generally calms down.

Thanks Aliya, the info was indeed useful.we are outdoor people & we have done a lot of reading JR.We love them coz they are active. This way they will keep us active at times when we tend to become lethargic.

I would suggest stopping by the SPCA, looking at the ASD website, or alternatively the K9Love website as they are all wonderful charities trying to find homes for unwanted dogs/cats.  As Aliya has said in her post, JR's abound here as they are often given away due to being too active for many people.  Would definitely suggest you look at these organisations as a source of your potential pet.  Good luck with your search!

Sorry I got carried away with my "do you have enough time for a JR lecture"   to say, yes ASD and K9 Love will assist too - their websites can be accessed via the forum page on Doggiesite.com

I know of a 4 year old beagle who is up for adoption as well. Email me if you're keen and I'll try to find out if he's still looking for a home.

Hi
There is a 4 month old JR advertised at my local supermarket. Call 91251056 or 91738581.

Apparently the owner is leaving the country.

The SPCA currently has a 4 or 5-year old beagle up for adoption, as of last night.  FYI.  As well as a Welsh Corgi from the same home, about the same age, maybe a little younger.

The CL post is a hoax.  Poor guy with the phone number is mighty unimpressed.

I have a Dashmund Pup about 6 months old. Adorable little pup, but I fear that he does not get the attention he deserves. If interested reply to me at mitchellayes@comcast.net and I will try to send you some pictures if interested.

We have a Jack Russell that is 3 and I may look at giving away if I can meet you and see if you guys would be a good match. We are going home, and I will take him if I cant find him a very good home.My husband is not keen to take him home but the rest of the family is. I am just worried the quarantine would be to long for him as he is likes to be around someone and he wouldn't see any of us for a long time. Call me if you are interested as I only want the best home for him and someone who would appreciate him. 92449370

JRussell, dogs cope well with quarantine, they are around other dogs and they just get on with it.  As long as your husband doesnt make your home an unhappy place for the dog I would take him with you.  Dogs hearts do break.  Tell your husband to get over his issues with the dog!
