Right, so you're considering a smaller breed then?

Ok, would you be willing to consider other breeds? There are many small and medium size breeds looking for homes (abandoned or rescued), how about giving them a second chance in life? Personally I have adopted two dogs, one of which is purebred and another is a mix local. They are both wonderful and I won't ever think of buying a dog from any pet shop. Especially when I've seen the puppymills that churn out these lovely bundles for profit. You don't want to know the condition of these places & the poor dogs that are used for breeding.

Check out the beautiful faces and sunny personalities at www.asdsingapore.com  or www.k9love.org  They are gorgeous! You won't regret it.

Hi Mochafrapp

by Sg law regulations I can only keep one in my current place, so I would like to keep one that is registrable.

I've done rehoming for strays and what not before, so I know that my home size is not suitable for one. Also, I have been intending to keep MS for many years. knowing myself, if I keep another breed now, I would end up flouting the law to keep an MS at a later stage.

I very nearly bought from the petshop, but was told by friends who also work in the animal org here , that people occasionally do put their animals there when they can't bring them along, hence I thought I'd try here.

Hi Woofus,

Erm, I don't quite understand what you mean by registrable. There are strays which are small sized and purebred, not just the medium sized local mixes. These are definitely AVA registrable regardless of whether you live in apartments or private residences.

The SPCA rescues purebreed dogs of various sizes on a weekly basis and if you register your interest with them, they'll contact you when a MS becomes available. If you're keen on MS only, you can also approach the Schnauzer club of Singapore which is committed to promoting the different sizes of the breed. You can send a word to members who may know of people giving up their dog for whatever reason. Their website as given below. http://homex.coolconnect.com/member3/schnauzerclub/
Another resource you can consider is www.doggiesite.com  which is the unofficial Singapore dog site. You can indicate your interest via the messageboard. Doggiesite does not condone sale of pets, so postings on the message board are for adoption purposes only.

Hope you find a nice canine companion soon.

Cheers.

A little late in replying this but NEVER EVER buy from a pet shop if you can help it.

The breeder I got my Bichon Frise from is known for his healthy dogs but his MSs are in the $1000 region.

Think about it.
