We have found that although we can buy the same toothpaste here we had back home, it doesn't taste quite the same (and froths more, but then maybe that's the water)......... so if you are really particular about it, you may want to bring  a couple of tubes of your own.

Claratin-D isn't available, just the antihistime w/o the decongestant. Occassionally, I have had the worst allegy episodes of my life here (I'm from NY) and it may take your body awhile to adjust to the new allergins.

Strange as it may seem we stock up on our fave brands of suncream - Piz Buin - as we aren't keen on the Banana Boat and others sold here.

We also buy Berocca original flavour (the red ones) as here it's only the tropical flavour available.

Other little quirks you might want to stock up on are panty liners for string knickers, Nurofen (though you can get a double strength one from Boots in Thailand), knickers to fit Western bottoms, bras for women who don't need padding, and those "moist wound" plasters made by Compeed or Savlon which heal wounds quicker and with no scar.

As everyone above has said, it's often a case of getting used to a new brand name as most food and groceries come in from US or Aussie.

If you're British, you can get little treats from M&S but pay a big premium here.  My husband has me carrying back half a dozen cans of M&S curries from HK as the only country in the region to stock them.  They have gone from being a quick cheap supper to a real treat snack food!  weird, but you will have cravings worse than being pregnant and it's all psychological "not available so I want it"!!

Half the fun of being here is adapting - we used to use antihistamine cream on bites and now have some white flower potion from the Chinese supermarket Yue Hwa which works a treat (smells bad though!)

You'll love it - supermarkets have become stores of wonder again!!!!
