I would like to know the going expat package for a family with 1 10 year old child and wife transfering to singapore. I earn 80,000 in australia at the moment and looking at a 3 bedroom apartment with a car.

more info is needed....if you are going to be a truck driver, 80,000 is a lot of money....if you are a company managing director of an MNC, I would ask for a lot more

Aussie bloke, he's right, you need to tell us your position to get a "going rate". However below I give a rough outline of what your expenses would be, based on my own experience. Please note there will be others who claim you can live cheaper than this (eg by using local schools, not having a car) but I am basing my estimates on the lifestyle you say you want;

3-bed condo - SGD3-3.5k pcm
school fees, uniform - SGD1.2k pcm
car lease, petrol, ERP - SGD 2k pcm
utilities, telephone - SGD0.5k pcm
food, groceries - SGD2k pcm
entertainment, meals out - SGD1k pcm

Thats about SGD10k pcm in costs. To cover that you need to look for a package offering around SGD140-150k pa pre-tax, assuming your wife doesn't work.

Hope this helps.

OK mate - I've been around this block and wish I'd asked advice.  I'm with Mark mostly - but I'd get them to give you the A$80 (plus $5-10k increase for the promotion) plus

ALL relocation expenses such as flights, accomm when you get here, furniture removals by someone good e.g KC Dat, PLUS
at least S5k per month housing
500 for utilities p.m
1.5-3k for car p.m
3k per month for living away from home.  I reckon this would just about cover the difference in cost of living from Aust to Singapore.
Cost of return tickets to Aus annually.

In my mind this would make it evens with living in aus and give you the extra money to make the upheavel worthwhile.  Don't forget VB here is $67 per carton from the supermarket and A$7 bottle of wine is $22 in supermarket or $50 at an inexpensive restaurant.

(Sorry mark - just re-read your post and I think I've almost repeated it).
