Having said what I said earlier, personally I would prefer to raise my (future) kids somewhere closer to nature.  Where weekends and vacations could be spent hiking or camping in the mountains, without leaving the country.
I would want them to have an easier childhood too, lots of play and less rushing from one tuition class to the next.
As long as they could keep up with schoolwork, they shouldn't have to lose sleep over their performance until maybe SAT. Kids nowadays are often burdened by all these worries that belong to grown-ups, and way too early in their lives.

I'm not clear as this discussion about Singapore schools.  The vast majority of expats send their kids to International schools, not Singaporean schools.

You will find that the country schools (American, Canadian, Tanglin...etc) offer a school system that is very close to what is taught back in the home country.  Most expats will claim that the quality of education here is quite high.

original question was about raising a kid in asia as opposed to a western society.  this encompasses school education, parents' attitudes, the network support and society influence.  how all of these factors would mould the kids.

in general, the asian influence is always good for kids (asian values give good foundation), so that later in life, when exposed to western world, they will appreciate much better.  it is easier for one to move from a strict environment to a free one then vice versa.
