We have a great maid. Very sweet, hard working, great with the kids, honestly a dream come true. No trouble, always home on time, the works.

She always says good bye when she goes out on her day off and was previously quite conservatively attired. In fact for the first couple of months I didn't even notice lipstick! I used to think isn't this wonderful so many other girls go out on Sunday looking like they are looking for trouble!

So this morning she comes in to say good bye and I was shocked to see her in tight jeans, high heels and a tiny top with her midriff showing. Now I'm not one to criticize a person's fashion choices, but between the top and the makeup she looked like a hooker. I feel awful because I was so stunned I was speechless.

We're a conservative family. I don't believe that she is up to "no good" per se but dressed in this manner she will def. attract the wrong kind of attention .. seems like she's made some 'new friends' since coming to work for us and it worries me.

Should I gently suggest that she tone it down or am I a big prude?

Try having more conversation with her, from the exchange, u might learn something. Ask her about her family, life back home, friends she meets etc. This will give u some clue to her off days activities. Perhaps ask her when she returns, how was her day, what she did etc. - casually & in a friendly way. I know your feeling, I went thru that before. I've now a fantatsic maid who gives me know problem nor thoughts about her activities. She's like a friend, she needs someone to talk too. Good luck.

That's good advice. We definitely have a chat about her day off. For the first few months it was hanging with friends, church, wandering around in Orchard Rd .. now it's beauty contests and bars with Filipino bands. I don't believe the first few months were an act either .. just that she seems to have some different friends!

Hey Baffled,
As long as she is not causing you any hassles with her work i don't think it is any of your business how she dresses on her day off really. Would your husbands boss comment on his attire on his day off?
Leave the maid alone for goodness sake, as long as she is doing her job well then you have no reason to complain how she dresses on her day off.
