I have often wondered what sort of chemical is Mosquito Fogging?  Is it dangerous to humans? Can anyone shed some light on this, as a few people in our condo I've asked have given me some incredible answers, none of which Ive been too happy with, ie one reply was Oh it's only DDT. I said what, Im not sure DDT would be spray and not fogging and am sure it is banned in the UK, US and Australia.Anyone who can shed some light please do. Thanks in advance.

I am also worried about this, i close all doors windows and shut of the air con when it is being done, i also do not go outside for a while after it has been done, where as the locals in my building walk through it! i do not like anything that can kill things surely it isn't good for us.

it's a mixture of oil and another insecticide. It is harmless to humans.
However as for everything dealign with chemicals, common sense is to be applied. Close your windows, don't leave food on the way, dont' leave children or pets, don't stand on the way or breath the smoke...Instead for us poor mosquitoes it's genocide....

Think about this:
If the chemicals used in fogging could kill insects, why should we believe that it's harmless for humans?

Fogging is just as bad to us as it is to the insects.

Thanks for replies, I would of thought that most or all chemicals are very dangerous to humans. I have also noticed in our fish pond after they do the fogging that quite a few fish are very dead, so what is it doing to us humans. I'd really like to know exactly what we are breathing in. I love the idea of no mozzies, but at what consequence?

The chemical used is cypermethrin and it is mixed with diesel. The EPA (USA) lists cypermethrin as "moderately toxic." MOE (Singapore) lists the side effects as "minimal."
On the label, one of the side effects listed is "death."
Keep away from the fog. It is used worldwide, but I have never seen it used so heavily as here.

Thank you Adman, now I know that it is toxic, I will be sure to stay well away whilst they are doing it. I cant believe that this isnt made more public, as I see people just strolling through it whilst fogging... Unbelievable

Thank you UK Expat, now Im more worried, but at least I know what it contains. Certainly dont like the syptoms much. Everybody really should read that and stop walking through it, as it's a chemical.
