Bob - Take particular note of the rules for being Resident or Non-Resident in a tax year.....from my limited understanding seems if you are in Singapore for less than 183 days before tax year ends on 31st Dec - you are considered a Non-Resident and as such are charged tax at 15%, not the lower rates which you can get if you are a Resident (more than 183 days).  Is making a BIG difference to my tax bill this year!! (but still less than in UK - so not all bad).

Nora and Bob,
IRAS will let you be reclassified as a resident after 3 calender years. That is, the first year tax as a non-resident will be recalculated on the resident basis and the difference will be refunded.  Don't forget to do it on your third year.

You would probably owe only 4 or 5K for the whole year.
