I have a British PAL TV which I would like to try and use here.  I know I can get a picture and not the sound due to the different frequency that TV is broadcast at in SIngapore.

I have heard people talking about a fairly simple fix which you can do yourself to sort this problem out.  It is a fairly new TV.

Any advice would be appreciated.

wont work here, buy a new one here for less then 500 squid, and to be honest tv is not that good here anyway mate....NO eastenders, corrie, crossroads, ali g, hollyoaks, newsnight or anything midly stimulating, unless you enjoy watching re-runs of friends, ally mcsqeal, or english premierships games seven times a week.. of course there's always primetime with Cheryl Fox... Fox by name, cat by nature.. tip top, and woof woof

TV Doc - you may have $500 to burn on a new TV but I don't.  I know there is a way of doing this if the TV is quite modern.

There are several different versions of the PAL system - some TV's are multi system anyway, but for those that are not, just because it is PAL does not mean it works in all PAL regions.

Anyone know the fix it?  Fat Bob - are you there?  I know you know how this is done........

I love it here - so many experts thinking they know about everything and so much crap is stated as fact!

Have you searched the archives?  Fat Bob is indeed the expert on this.

We brought ours too - it's a decent widescreen TV and the company paid shipping so we had nothing to lose.

I THINK you can sort it a couple of ways.

One is to get a cheap local video to use as a tuner.

However the way we did it was to get cable TV - the cheapest package is only S$20 a month and at least you can get BBC World, MTV, and the Discovery Channels, for when you get sick of watching the same six terrible local actors in every terrible local programme!
