You are regarded as a resident if you have been in Singapore for 183 consecutive days in a calender year.

What happens if you have been in singapore for 183 consecutive years one year and not the next?

Will you have to pay tax in your home country?

In a past life I was paid for this....SIGH

There are a number of tests which are used to determine residency. If you are a resident according to the ordinary meaning of the word resident then you will be treated as such by the jurisiction in which you reside!!!there are situations in which the issue is not so clear eg the year in which you arrive or depart and there are therefore rules such as the 183 day rule to clarify the situation.

You will not find an answer to your question on a website. If you will not pay for professional tax advice try going to the inland revenue and seeking their advice.

As to whether or not you will also fall within another taxing jurisdiction will depend upon 1) the law of the other country and
2) any agreement between Singapore and that country ...called a Double tax treaty.

It is a very complicated question...go and pay for advice.
