Which Provider offers a flatrate for DSL. What are the monthly costs for it?
Please give me your experience!

Will check with magix! Does anybody know if I can use my german DSL modem (from t-online) or should I sell it? Is it possible to install the ISDN Box (Fritz) and get 2 phone lines?

you should be able to use your german dsl modem ...but i think you get a modem with the contract very cheap. You can have ISDN if you need this, but very expensive in Singapore. And You have a DSL for Your internet, so for what do you need ISDN. Its better just to get a second phone line if you need one

haha, you got me . Originaly from Germany.
You will get a phoneline for 25$ for 3 month basic cost from singtel. Magix is also part of singtel . You need to have one phoneline , but as aywhere, you can uses this 100% , even when you are online with dsl. I dont know the cost of a second line, but can not be more expencive than th first one .I'm using also the oneoffice service. They provide you with a virtual faxnumber (get your faxes from a website or forward it via mobilephone) and a virtual answering mashine. All linked together with your home and mobile number .They also send you an sms when you have a voicemail on your home phone or a fax. All for 10$ a month

Hi
Post the type of modem you have and I'll check whether you can use it or not.
Magix is excellent, way above the rest.
You get a static IP address as apposed to the dynamic ones that pacnet and SCV offer.
What OS do you use as configuring MS XP can be a pain with MAGIX.

Cheers

these are very old prices , swordfish. Magix costs 75$ per month ,flat rate and you can be online 24h. Yes they had some problems in the beginning , but for the last 18 month , it runns really faultfree for me . And I'm running a router, with one win2k server, one pc on mac and 2 wireless laps ( mac and pc) in the network. also use stuff like vpn / vnc to connect from outside . works all fine

Well, if there are old prices, why doesn't their own website reflect it ? The link I copied was taken today from their pricing schedule. How can you get it for $75 if everyone else needs to pay $198 ?

Hi to all the Germans out there!!!

Forget internet thru phone line and go for cable modem. We pay about 55$/month and have a very fast connection. It gives you up to 1.5 MBIT/s. This is 20 times the speed of good old ISDN. DSL is also much slower.

Only downside: You share this rate with the people in your house. If 2 people are downloading stuff at the same time, both will have only half speed. We have been using it for the last 1.5 years and we're very happy with it!

I use DSL at work and a cable modem at home, and find the cable modem to offer better bandwidth and reliability. I have witnessed 1.5Mb/s downloads off the local cache, and can stream 128Kb/s audio from the US for hours without drop-outs. Something which I have not managed over our DSL connection.

That being said I have a friend staying in an HDB appartment, and he switched from cable to DSL because of over-population of the local access node.

So in summary, the cable solution can offer excellent service but can be affected in certain areas due to a lack of sufficient nodes, resulting in reduced access speed.

Want to believe.
I too have XP working, but Magix don't support
XP as far as I know. Although most modem suppliers have drivers for XP on the web for download.( I'm using a Efficient3060 ATM)
Why did they drop the static IP stuff, made hosting games etc so easy. Are you sure they dropped it or is it just with USB/ dial manager modems?

no need , lah   . I'm using magix dsl with my laptop right now . well, you can not use the original magix software , but this is crap anyway. Works very stable with xp over a small router. If you have any problems , mail me , i help you . And, ys , they dont provide a static IP anymore...they just running out of adresses   I think when you choose to get the more expencive 512k connection, you still get a static one, but not sure. Why I'm using magix instead of scv. A few things . First , the global roaming dialup , witch i need , but dont have with scv. Second a pop3 mailadress witch i need as well , but dont get one with scv cable. I dont say , scy is bad. I think its very good , it just dont fit's my needs. And , yes , again ,i pay 75$ a month .
