Can anyone tell me what the difference is between SCV MaxOnline and Singnet Broadband?

Thanks!

price vs. quality
I prefer the cheap way - quality is fine even for MBL videos. Expect interruptions occassionaly.
If you rarely use, though, you might consider the Magix quality - SCV is flat fee.

It really is a matter of how fast is fast enough.

SCV is potentially the fastest service, but because cable modem users must share bandwidth, the throughput (data speeds) can drop at peak times.

ADSL, the technology used by SingNet Broadband and SingTel's Magix caps speeds at 512kpbps or 256kbps but you are 'guaranteed' of those speeds at all a times.

If you want a cheap, pretty reliable connection and already have cable tv, go with SCV.

But, if you want consistently good speeds, check out SingNet Broadband: http://www.singnet.com.sg/product/broadband/promotions.html
or SingTel Magix: http://www.singtelmagix.com.sg/product/product_features.asp

Just to confuse things further, Pacific Internet also offer an ADSL-based broadband connection: http://www2.pacfusion.com/sg/broadband/

Basically, PacNet and SingNet Broadband offer the same sort of service. Magix offers online movies and news on top of normal Internet services. SCV offers a cable service that's good enough for the average surfer.

Thanks!

I signed up to Singnet Broadband - they're doing a special promotion at the moment where the modem is free so seemed like a good deal.

Is there something I'm missing or u just being sarcastic.

Just a word of warning to anyone NOT to sign up with the ISP Compuserve Pacific here in Singapore. I signed up with them for a plan that I thought would cost around $50 a month for internet access. However when the charges started to appear on my credit card (and it took 4 months for the first charges to appear) I found the monthly bills were running at $600-1000! On querying with them I find that accessing from Singapore incurs a surcharge of USD10 ph, hence the enormous bills. I wouldn't mind so much if (a) I had been notified of those surcharges in advance and (b) it hadn't taken 4 months for the first charges to appear. That way I would have discontinued the service a whole lot quicker.

If you already have SCV at home, SCV MaxOnline is only $66 monthly and flat fee means u can have it turned on all day without any care. Downloads are super fast even over the weekends and high traFFIC HOURS.

Dunno if the promo period is over tho' ... anyone interested can give them a bell @ 8737373
