UK phones can work but it is not worth the hassle in getting them to work.  Easier, quicker and cheap to buy a new one here.

There are two problems with UK phones.  Firstly the plug size is wrong.  a smaller plug is needed.  You can get adaptors.

Secondly, the wires are connected in a different order.  Something like 2 to 3 and 3 to 2 but not sure.  Someone may tell you that you can get an adaptor to change the order but I have not found one.

By the time that you have gone out, got an adaptor, found it does not work because of the diffent wiring, tried to rewire etc, it is easier to buy a phone for under SGD20.

Good luck.

Car is talking out of his (or her) jack.
UK phone will work fine, only need to replace the cable from the wall socket to the base unit (2 dollars from Mustaffah's). I have a Phillips cordless bought from Dixons and it works fine even with the Broadband filter.

I disagree - maybe your phone did work fine, but many don't (do a seach on this website and see many other threads...).  The usual problem is that you can dial out on them, but if someone calls you the phone will not actually ring.  If you happen to pick it up at the right time though you can still talk!!!  As someone else said, they are so cheap to buy - I picked a small one up in Carrefour for $5!!!!
