There's a great bakery in the East Coast called "Bakery Depot" that makes fantastic bread without sugar. Cheng, the owner of the bakery, is Singaporean but she learnt to bake bread, cakes and muffins from an Aussie. Most of her customers are expats because she bakes "normal" bread that caters to Western taste. Her range of bread and cakes include Organic wholemeal bread, olive bread, foccacia, olive & pesto ciabatta, damper (one of my favourites) rye bread, fresh fruit loaf, easter buns, carrot cake, cheesecake, muffins, lemon meringue pie, fresh chocolate chip cookies, orange and lemon poppyseed cake, fresh croissants, brioche........... I could go on and on.
She also makes great sandwiches using her own freshly baked bread and yummy pumpkin soup.
Bakery Depot is open from Tuesdays - Sundays from 8.00 am onwards. I usually by my husband's breakfast from them every weekend. They have also opened up a small shop in Republic Plaza, Raffles Place but the range of bread is not as good as the shop in the East Coast.
