Hi folks, can somebody please tell me how come a lot of the room to let advertisements say "no owner", ummm how can that be?  Also these D numbers (eg; D.15) what are they, are they district numbers and if so does anybody know where there is a map with districts on the internet please?

No owner means that the owner doesn't live there. In reality that probably means that when you go and visit the place, there'll be all this stuff that they store there. Of course, they'll promise to move it out, but it will never happen.

The other thing they'll probably do is say that it's okay for you to cook at the premises when really, it's not. They'll also say that it's okay to use the gas stovetop, for you to find that in the cupboard below there is no gas--AND THEN they'll scream at you for taking the initiative to get some.

Oh yeah, and if you get a room at a place where there's an aircon unit in the loungeroom, check that that aircon is actually connected--oftentimes they'll disconnect it so that none of the tenants who are all contributing to the cost of electricity can't have a comfortable loungeroom because the landlord is too damn stingy to provide airconditioning in the main entertainment area of an apartment/house etc.  Bitter? Me? Never!

As for districts, look in the Straits Times in the real estate section. There's a map in there covering district numbers and their corresponding locations.

Oh yes...I won't even go into the horror story I experienced when living somewhere where the owner (AND HIS MOTHER) lived. Needless to say..avoid living somewhere where the owner lives (But if you want the horror stories, email me !!)
