I have a bunch of stuff I want to sell (or in some cases donate), but since I have been in Singapore (7 mos now), I have never heard of a yard sale happenning. How do people sell used items - furniture, toys, books, etc.?  Also, are there any organizations that take donations of goods?

Mate are you kidding?  There are always signs up on the Jelita noticeboard or on the noticeboard at Tanglin Mall - and they are just two places I know about. You could even post the details in the buying and selling on this site - just make a list of what you've got and I'm sure people will come knocking on your door.  You don't happen to have a computer desk, do you?
