Just got SCV modem and cannot believe we didn't do this before.  With 2 computers accessing internet our phone bill resembled the debt of a small 3rd world country! Got the extra point connected for my son which means two of us can access the internet at the same time.  All smoke and mirrors to me!

However took the advice above and installed a fire wall.  I am hoping it is not going to cause this technical numskie any difficulties!

Hi MD

I am afraid I am a technical numskie!  Our apartment has cable outlets in every room (including the maid's room!) so it was just a matter of ordering 2 connections.  I think I pay $56 pm for the first one and $46 pm for the second one.  Still cheaper than the phone bill!

I would think that if you got your house networked then you would only need the one connection but I am not sure if that would give you the flexibility for different users to access the internet at the same time.

(Also our landlady would have kittens if we put in network cables  )

Me think u'd want to try SCV's offering, it is i believe got the best pipe to the net,
As we all know, 56k or 128k isn't a problem with modem normally but out provider's upstream pipe is the bottleneck normally.

SCV looks to me the coolest one in town

if you are using Yahoo already, that has pop3 capability allowing you to download to a local program (outlook etc)...just setting it up myself!  Get onto Napster as well, its fantastic!
