Anybody know what to do if your U.S. drivers license expires while you are out of the country? We plan to go back to the States eventually and if we can't drive, we'll be stuck. (An American without a car is unAmerican!)

Mary,

I am from Texas and I had mine expire.  Went back after a year and found that if I did it within 2, all I had to do is renew.  After 2, you have to take the test.

This is for TX. only.  Hope it helps.

James
