We are Singapore bound in three weeks and will be living in Holland Grove View.  My husband's office is near the causeway to Sentosa.  Is it possible to make that journey on public transport, and if so, how?

I've made phone calls to both SBS (singapore bus Services) and TIBS (TransIsland Bus Services) and they were helpful.

Alternatively, you may just like to buy a bus guide book which is pretty handy, ask the other people in the office they way around or just hop on the bus and enjoy the ride/adventure (hopefully you won't get one with that blasted TV monitor and muzak playing all the time).

There is a MRT station being built near there so soon, that could be another option.

For example from MRT stations! There should be still the new ones left!

Hi,
Glad to see you chose Holland Grove View, ( Replied to you last message).
The 92 bus will take you to Buena Vista MRT station where the choice of busses is greater, as for nearby I think you will have to change busses a couple of times so it will probably be faster to travel by cab. It will be faster when the Dover MRT station is completed

You could check out the business bus service, Bus Plus, which runs through your area every morning.

It goes downtown for sure, don't know about other locations.

I don't know how far off completion the new station is but it will certainly be convenient for Holland Grove.

Unfortunately as it is at the moment Holland Grove is quite an isolated little pocket for public transport.  The 92 goes along Ghim Moh Road which is a bit of a walk from HGV.  There is the 92A which I believe services HGV but they will only get you to the MRT.  You then have to get from the MRT to the office which would take another bus or maybe more.  I can't comment on Bus Plus.

In summary as it stands at the moment, I think the only direct way to your husband's office is by taxi (and at peak hour they can be notoriously difficult to get hold of!).

Thanks all.

The Dover MRT station will be great but estimates of completion date vary from 6 months to 2 years!  Also, looking at my map, the MRT line that goes close to Sentosa causeway is still under construction and I have no idea when that will be finished.  It looks like that a taxi will be the answer.  Can you make a long term arrangement for a taxi every day at a certain time?
Steve - do you have a number for BusPlus? I'll give them a call.
WG - are you living in HGV?  Do you know if there's a car-share operating to downtown in the mornings?

Re public bus routes - you can check SBS routes online at:
http://www.sbs.com.sg/

Select Bus Guide on the main page. The last option on the page ("By Boarding And Alighting Points") would probably be most useful.

Re: bus guide books, you can get them at any major bookstores (Borders, Kinokuniya, Times, etc). It spells out the routes, the frequency, stops, incl. MRT, etc.

There was a bus service running from Mt Sinai Drive called the Mt Sinai Express. I don't know much about it or if it is still running, as I just saw it advertised at the bus stop.  Another alternative could be to walk up to Holland Rd (bus stop across from Cold Storage Jelita) and catch the 61 bus which travels past the World Trade Center, skylifts etc and onto China Town.  I live down the other end of Mt Sinai Drive not too far from Holland Grove View and generally have not had trouble hailing a taxi on the street.  Hope this helps.

we live in HGV, great houses, great place
we have one car, although I work for a living, I don't seem to get the car much !

the nearest MRT is just too far to work. my wife drops me off and picks me up from the station.

taxis are impossible to get hold off at rush hour in the mornings. even to book one its not easy.

have not tried the bus yet !

see you soon
