Hi I was wondering what the latest is on getting a drivers licence there. When I lived there 2 years ago I was able to swap my licence with a fee of $20 dollars. Before we left it had become compulsory for all new expats to take a test written only. Will I be able to reinstate my old Singapore licence or will I have to take the test?Huh

If I do have to take the test does anyone have any good suggestions?Huh

Thanks in Advance

I think you should be able to resistate your old one. A colleague of mine came back to Singapore last year after a gap of abt 4 yrs and he didn't have to take the test

Unfortunately, he is off travelling all over the place and won't back for a week or so. But in any case, you will need to go to the Traffic Police HQ in Ubi Avenue 2 (or is it 3) off Paya Lebar Road

Hi!
I moved back to Singapore after being away for 2 years. I too was a bit "worried" about having to take a test to get the driver's licence. But, luckily, I had saved our old ones which had been valid until Nov 98. So, I thought I'd give it a go and went to the Traffic Police HQ at Ubi Avenue 3 about a month ago around 4 pm and came out 10 minutes later with driver's licences for me & my husband. It was possible, because our licences were not over 3 years old. At least that was what the kind lady there told me. One year licence costs S$20, a 3 year one S$60. She did ask for my passport and green card (dependant's pass), my husband was abroad at the time, but I got his licence without his passport.

So, I was very happy. Finally something that worked like clockwork.

Does somebody know the opening hours of the Traffic Police HQ or have their phone number? I need to go there but don't want to stand in front of locked doors
Thanks.
