I've heard that the government doesn't block access to sites until people complain about the content. As NYC 2 SING says, it's impossible to block all 'offending' sites - the www is way too big and fluid.

As a follow up I eventually remembered to check my internet at home (Singnet) and had no problem with access to www.penthouse.com  Maybe those of you who could not either subscribe to the 'family' package that has some sort of 'net nanny' filter attached or your company uses a 'net nanny' filtering system.

Magix has no proxy server, so comments above do not apply; Magix offers direct access to the net, and not even the token attempt at censorship that the dial-up ISPs have. For ISP users, it is a token effort;  do a search for "singapore censorship" on www.dmoz.org  and follow the instructions ... all you need to do is find a proxy server outside of Singapore.

If you would like unrestricted surfing just use a proxy outside Singapore. Here's a list. I tried one in Taiwan and it worked a treat:

Indeed, www.playboy.com  is blocked under magix now, (shows how often I surf there!) and I can not get around this by using a proxy server. We need help.

If changing to a different proxy server doesn't work for you, just go to anon.free.anonymizer.com, or enter the address as http://anon.free.anonymizer.com/http://www.playboy.com

They must be watching me, too, because I surfed to picturepost.com one night, and the next night, it was blocked. Ridiculous !
