Found out that I need to convert my licence in order to drive in Singapore cause I have lived here for more than 1 year.  I need to take a basic theory test and went to apply for it... the earliest date for the test is Apr 1!!  And it will take 2 weeks before I can receive my results ! So it is nearly 6 weeks of waiting..

Anyone has driven without the conversion.  What are the penalties?  Still thinking of driving to Malaysia end of March !

You'll probably be ok in Malaysia. In Singapore it's illegal to drive without a valid driving licence. Although you'll not be asked for it under normal circs, if you have an accident, your insurance company might not pay up.

Dunno for sure. Has anyone made an insurance claim without a valid licence?

Once you have booked your test you can drive your car.  You will need the couple of weeks before it to study the book.  If you don't study you won't pass, so start reading now.

I was specifically told by the police when I booked my test that I wasn't allowed to drive until the test result came through.

Now, the copper I talked to could have been wrong, where did you get your info?
