Immigration question

To get an employment pass do you have to take a physical and an HIV/TB test?  My HR is telling me I have to go after I get the visa and move to Singapore.  I will get the visa in “Principle” and then after I move, I am to go take the physical.  This seems like I am taking a small chance with my career and family if everything turns out not to be OK.   Additionally, I live in Japan and I just took a full physical and everything checked out.  Can that be used instead?

Thanks in advance.

immigration will require the medical 'evidence' be produced within a short timeframe when u first arrive (1 or 3 months???) ... u can work on the temporary EP (your in-principle EP) for a month I think.  It's no big deal to pass the medical especially if your recent physical was all okay; thye idea seems to be to pass you if at all possible.  I think it would be hard to fail the examination unless you were really sick -- they only really give you a quick check-over and test your blood-pressure and so on but i think they are only assessing if you are fit to work and not if you are incedibly healthy.  For example having somewhat high blood pressure would not fail you (although your own company's policy is another issue).  The only thing yu might fail on is the TB or HIV test -- that is black and white pass or fail I think.  So if you are really worried you could have those tests done before you come to be sure.

I agree that the medical is REALLY no big deal unless you have TB or HIV or some such thing. As I live on the East Coast, just went up to East Coast Specialists at Bedok near DBS Bank, had blood drawn, blood pressure checked, quick single chest xray (standing, fully clothed) and then doc did a quick stethescope check and asked a few questions as per the form.

You also may have to have a urine test - I did plus the chest x-ray and blood test. BTW I am not the one working here so your partner will have to have the same tests plus they tell you where you must go to have this done..no big deal though.
