Where can I find the best wholemeal bread in Singapore. One that is light in texture and tastes good also. Cost no issue.

Hi
I buy my bread from Simply Bread, they have nice wholemeal, rye, etc. I don't know if it the best but 100% better, fresher than the supermarkets and those other bread shops that sweeten their breads.
I think there are about 3 of them around singapore.

Carrefour - the bread is ok, but not always they have a vriety of choices. I would also recommend German Market Place, Bukit Timah, but in my opinion the best way to have a 'real' bread in Sg is to buy machine and make bread yourself. Delicious

I agree with Katie, best bread comes from your own bread making machine, it is the only way to be sure that it is 100% wholemeal, and no aditives. I have been baking mine since I came here, my only ingredientes : Wholemeal organic flour ($2.70 1kg) yeast, salt & olive oil... Yumie!

So how long does it keep fresh if you make it at home? Also what do you look for in a breadmaker or are they all about the same?

It keeps for about 5 to 6 days in the fridge, although in our house in doesn't last more than 2 days. If you buy a bread maker, it depends on how many things you want to do with it. Some of them just have the basic settings: white bread, whole meal, quick bake... others have settings for dough if you want to make pizza, cakes... I have a Princess, basic one, I am not very imaginative in the kitchen and just wanted it for making bread. Princess have a warehouse in Harper rd and it is cheaper there than in the shops. I think now they have an offer around $100, and a friend of mine got one last week for $69, very special offer. Because it is the ware house, if something goes wrong during the warranty you take it there and they repair it or whatever. Good luck

Can anyone recommend a good bread making machine. I had a breville and gave it away as the bread was always thick instead of light and fluffy, no matter what recipe i used. Friend had one and bread was unbelievable. Any suggestions before i go looking, cause can't eat the bread here much longer, too sugary, blah. Thanks
