We are moving to S'pore in two weeks. We shipped only 4 cbm so we did not ship almost any baby / toddler care products.

Where is the best place to shop for example a potty, a toilet trainer, a safe step?

And do you know if there are any BabyBjörn products available in S'pore? How about NUK-products? Used to them... Also would be interested to hear some recommendations on local / Australian etc. products.

Thank You for any advice!

Hi there:

I'm happy to add my two cents while enduring pregnancy-related insomnia... Smiley

There are a lot of baby/toddler-oriented stores in Singapore -- nothing as comprehensive as Baby Bunting in Oz or Babies R Us in the U.S., but you can still find a lot of products (including Baby Bjorn & Nuk) here.

The best stores I've seen -- in terms of western product lines -- are Motherworks on the ground floor of Great World City Mall (you can google for specific location of mall); The Early Years on the 5th floor of the Paragon Shopping Center on Orchard Road; and Mums & Babes on the first floor of United Square Shopping Center in Novena (Thomson Road). United Square is one of several malls that caters to the "kiddie set" (an entire section of it is devoted to children's clothing, toy & gear stores).

In a pinch, if you can't find something here, it's not uncommon for people to ask friends/family back home to send (particularly if not bulky). Additionally, my friends here have been great about saying "We're going to the U.S./Oz/U.K., is there anything we can bring back for you?" I am happy to do the same for them when I go home to the States.

Good luck with your upcoming move!

Between the many shops here and the internet, you are pretty much covered. Also if your husband or you travel to HK which is often the case form here then HK has a couple of baby warehouse type shops that stock everything under the sun for kids.

That would be the Baby Hypermart in Bukit Batok, is really good but small, be prepared to feel claustrophobic.  Dont know if prices are cheaper but it does have a good range.  Advice is take what you are interested in into the next part of the shop which is not so cluttered and test drive it there.  Otherwise you will go bonkers.

You can find baby bjorn and nuk products. Singapore has a good selection of baby products here from the states australia. Mothers work at great world city has a good selection and heard there are many good stores at united square by novena. Babies and cream is one store.
There is a big babystore in the east called baby hyperstore. 69 kaki bukit avenue 1, shun li industrial park. a few doors down is baby kingdom, but never been there. These stores are a bit cheaper than the ones in town.

Thank You for your replies! It is now much easier to get all we need in a short time after arriving in Singapore next week. As you know, babies and toddlers can't wait  Smiley

Sure I bring something small with me on the flight but now I know I only bring things we need instantly after arriving.

Many thanks!

Is the baby hyperstore still in existence?  Or are there some new places we should check out?  We are first time parents and find all the products quite overwhelming.  Why don't these babies come with a handy starter pack?Huh??

I'd say Singapore is well provided for in terms of baby / toddler / kid stores.  Don't overlook Giant and Carrefour which sell everything to do with the little ones.  Mustapha in Little India has loads and there are several Mothercares around.  Great World City also has a quite a few kiddie places.

If you don't want to buy new goods, there is always the NMSG website in Singapore which has a noticeboard of people selling their baby / toddler items.  Guarantee you will get a good price if someone is selling something you need.

also, resist the temptation to buy stuff just because they're cute. make a list of the necessities and stick to it. when the child's there, you'll get a better feel of what you really need vs the nice to haves.

don't forget kiddy palace -- somewhat the local version of mothercare.

For carseats and strollers I found the best deals (even cheaper than the 2 warehouses in Kaki Bukit) in Balestier Road. A shop called Baby avenue.
