Hi, I have 2 job offers - one from a local Singapore company (SGD 3000 per month) and another from a global company with location anywhere in Middle East with base as Dubai (Around AED 10000 per month). I am not able to decide which one is better as both jobs provide good exposure and experience and packages or I should say the savings I will be doing will be the same after all deductions.
In a bind now, where to join? Yours thoughts or views are appreciated.
Regards, Pawan Kumar

Hi guys, I'm in a similar situation. Have been in SG for over 3 years. My package here is 9k per month. We're a family with two young school-going kids. I have an offer from Dubai - it;s AED30k per month + medical + tickets to home country. I know it seems quite high but the cost of living there is very high too. Has anyone worked / lived in Dubai? How would you compare it to SG? We don't save much in SG but like it here a lot. Whats Dubai like for young families? I have a feeling that even if we save about AED5k there every month, the move might not be worth it. Any suggestions? Thanks a ton.

I haven't lived in Dubai but I've sent 2 weeks moving around the UAE.
Be prepared for scorching summers - can get as high as 50deg cels.
There's not much to do there except getting away from the heat in shopping malls.
Depending on the company you're working for, hours are pretty good. Many companies will start really early but close around 1pm, then some offices might open again around 3pm and people will work to 8pm.
I agree with other posts, make sure schooling and housing is included in your contract or even some form of transportation.
Traffic is terrible in Dubai, people don't know how to drive. There are no subways and the buses are not the best either.

I have to disagree, there is ALOT to do in Dubai and surrounding areas.
I hate malls and found tons to do there. check out the other post about Dubai vs Singapore. Traffic can be bad but it's comparable to any city now a days! Driving, yes it can be dangerous...just get a big truck!
We loved it and would move back!

Depends. From my experiences, family relations, colleagues and friends,(ranging from hospitality to architectural firms) we generally conclude Dubai is a wonderful city BUT thier working attitute is a big difference than of Singapore.Their working morale is very low.The packages that are offered are very attractive BUT beware of sneaky HRs espcially from the local companies there. Before you sign your contracts, DO MAKE SURE THAT YOUR NEGOTIATION IS UNDERSTOOD CRYSTAL CLEAR AND WRITTEN TO YOUR APPROVAL IN THE CONTRACT!!!.

I've been to Dubai and was staying in Sharjah... To be frank with you, the offer is good, but compare to S$, its S$1 to AED0.45...Let's just say, to have a cup of Coffee in Starbuck, it can simply cost u AED20..while here is @ s$6/7...and the infrature is bad...especially the roads...congested everywhere..its take 2hrs to drive from Sharjah to Dubai...the same distance from Ang Mo Kio to Yishun..Think again dude...before you decide to relocate yourself there.
